Record of Inspection

A Record of Inspection is required for all major electrical installations, medical areas or solar installations

For high risk electrical work

A Record of Inspection is a formal document detailing an inspection of high-risk prescribed electrical work (PEW).

The Record of Inspection provides a legally recognisable written record of what high risk prescribed electrical work was inspected and by whom.

It may also be used for the purpose of connection, and utilized for other purposes, including auditing and investigations.

The electrical inspector commissioned to complete the Record of Inspection cannot inspect if they have personally carried out the work, supervised someone else who carried out the work or issued a CoC for the work.

Once the Record of Inspection documentation is completed the person doing the inspection must enter specific details relating to the work on the Electricity and Gas High-risk Database.

Works that require a record of Inspection

  • Main Earthing System installations
  • New Incoming Mains installations
  • Main Switchboard Upgrade for capacity
